The History of RC LB Makiling
The Rotary Club of Los Baños gave birth to the Rotary Club of Los Baños Makiling (RC LB Makiling) in 1999. District Governor Representative (DGR) Ruben Villareal led in organizing this new club whose members are all women.
On December 1, 1999, RC LB Makiling was officially recognized as a chartered organization by the Rotary International. Club officers, who were elected on September 7, 1999, were inducted, along with the charter members on February 10, 2000 at Anest Tower, Los Baños. Dr. Vivian Gonzales, former Dean of UPLB served as the Charter President.
Former Dean Adalla Candida succeeded Dr. Gonzales, and Cora Villareal became President in RY 2001-2002. During that year, the Club garnered three (3) district awards during the District Turn-over in Hong Kong: the Outstanding Club, Outstanding President, and Vocational Service Awards. In 2002, Elizabeth Libas lead the Club and received the District Meritorious Service Award.
To date, there are only two (2) active charter members, PP Sylvia Katherine Lopez and PP Elizabeth Libas. Among the twenty-four (24) current members, there are eight (9) Past Presidents. The current president is All Star President Rowena "Wen" A. Parducho.
The Club continues to be vibrant as it strives for honor and excellence in engaging with undeserved communities.
